Nice sentiments.... but to think that the person in question is sincere... you have to ignore all HIS months of flaming newbies. At times even I was upset with his tone. Given all the other untruths he has decided to spew... I believe his sudden "conversion" is about at sincere as the rest of his slash and burn bullshit. Anyway.... there is a difference between flaming a newbie and criticizing someone who is way off topic or is posting with fonts that are impossible to read. Back in December I was upset with the unkind response someone in my old group gave to a newbie... and it forced me to reconsider.... and wrote the post below. I think I have mellowed since then.... but I''ll be damned if I will be "mellow" in the face of blatant lies from someone who betrayed a group trust.... and who now comes in here with but one intent.... to carry on his hate-filled agenda. This is not WTV's doing. If the person in question was so honorable... he would have no need to resort to inflamatory lies. People who criticize the posting of the Willie's page are not upset about the information contained there... but that he posted the page itself. The person in question has done immense damage to all our ambitions.. and for what?

I think that some of you who have been critical of the old timers in the NG have a point... It's taken me some time to see the catch 22/no win situation some of us have grown into.... Before WTV began to monitor this NG, all of us were more willing to post on advanced and highly speculative topics. However, once we realized that this was unwise.... we basically stopped most public posts and went underground..... all the time trying to maintain some ideological purity that this was still an "advanced" ng. It doesn't take long before living that internal contradiction blows up in one's face.... or more accurately, in the NG generally... though to be fair the material in the Hacking Site that I was working on had been contributed by many people... many who get badmouthed for not sharing info. Just because my plans for the site were too ambitious and I got bogged down is no reflection on them. Speaking for myself here, none of this is to say that I would now post info I thought was dangerous, was given to me in confidence, or is not mine to give. It doesn't mean that I'm willing to share everything I know (as if that's much anyway)... or that I will be tolerant of bombers, people who are disruptive, and lame fakers. I still think people who don't know what a URL is should probably be elsewhere. What it does mean is that since all advanced discussion will never again going to take place here.. then it might as well be a place more tolerant of the serious on-topic beginners. To that end, like I said a few days ago.... just post questions and I'll try to answer them. I think this balance is still consistant with this NG's Charter. ===============================================
